4. Writing a page

If you want static pages, like these instructions, pages are better than posts, as they can appear permanently in one of your sidebars for easy reference.

This is very similar to writing a post (so see ‘Writing a post’ for the basic stages) except that you click on ‘Pages’ in the dashboard screen.  Pages are static and will appear in the top menu bar of your blog, and in links down the right hand side.

You don’t need to add categories to pages, like you do for blogs.  However, one useful option is the one on the right called ‘page parent’.  Here you can link pages as subsidiaries of another page.  For example, each of these individual instruction pages has ’setting up your blog’ as its parent.  This helps organise pages visually on the site as well as helping readers to navigate them.

Again, see the Edublogs help site for more information on working with pages.

Hi, I’m setting up the MFL blog and I just wanted to check if you could leave a comment on a “page” as well as a “post”. And apparently you can!
