5. Uploading Images and Videos
Uploading Images
When uploading images you should save them as a jpeg to ‘my pictures’ or the desktop. You can find the image you want from google or use an image you already have. Use the upload option below the writing box to upload your image. You can then move the text around it to suit the image.
Here is a fractal image I found on google. I saved it to my desktop then uploaded it onto this post. When it has uploaded there are options to select. To have a decent sized image select full sized and to link it to the post select link to page. You can always change the options after if they do not work for the post by choosing the edit options from the manage menu.
Uploading Videos (Embedding videos)
To embed a video simply:
- Click on the yellow ‘A’ button in your text editor (or ‘Media’ button if you have rich text editing turned off). You will need to allow scripted windows, there is usually a pop up to allow you to temporarily allow them.
- Copy and paste the URL (web address) of the video you want to embed into the area provided.
For example, try it with this Google Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMmN5NGw-iA .
Linking Documents
I have had students create their own blogs and link in homework tasks and revision guides they have created which are saved on word and powerpoint. This allows people to open their documents and see what they have done. I used the upload function I used for uploading images.
Adding a Voice Thread
This is actually something I have not tried yet but thought it would be good for those who like extension tasks. Happy Blogging!!!
