1. Registering for a blog
You need to go to the Edublogs site – http://edublogs.org. Click the big ‘Sign up for Free’ button.
Sue Walters invaluable Edublogger site links to a step by step guide to setting up your blog here. More guidance is available here. Our post here has a link to a video, taking you through the process.
A few tips:
- You cannot change your blog domain name, which is the actual web address – something.edublogs.org. (though there’s nothing to stop you creating a second blog on the same username if you mess this bit up!)
- Given this, if you’re not sure what you want to use your blog for yet, go for your name – tware.edublogs.org, or msware.edublogs.org, for example.
- You can change your blog title.
- When it asks you for the blog type, select ‘Teacher’
- When it asks you about whether you want it to appear in public listings, if you’re worried about cyber-safety, click ‘no’. If you’d like other teachers (e.g. maybe from other schools, searching for sample blogs) to be able to search and find the blog, click ‘yes’.
- Later, you can create any number of blogs, all linked up to the same username – there’s no need to have 5 usernames for 5 blogs! Just login, go to the Dashboard, and then click on ‘Create another brand new blog’
