To change the picture, you need to pick a theme that has a customisable header - you'll know if it does as, just under the main menu in the 'design' / theme page (just above where it displays your choice of theme), it will have a 'widgets' link, then it may also have a link saying 'theme options' and/or 'custom image header'. If it has this last link, you can add your own picture - have a play, and i can help you on Thursday if you haven't been able to do it by then. Nice work changing the theme!
